We at Scorpion know we’ve true stars within our R&D department whose skills in product design and development are put to the test by manufacturers and vehicle users all across the world. An unparalleled eye for geometry and advanced grasp of the laws of physics are prerequisite skills too with the effects of gravity, motion, velocity, friction, mass and deflection scrutinised in the development of our vehicle telematics devices.
And it’s the hands-on application of these same skills that led Ian Davenport, Scorpion’s Head of R&D to a national victory at the European Eightball Pool Federation Championship staged at Blackpool last week.
Ian was one amongst 500 players from 63 teams spanning 16 countries – representing the largest event ever organised by the World and European Eightball Pool Federations, in terms of player involvement.
In the championship’s round robin stage Ian helped the England Men’s ‘B’ team remain undefeated, including winning the deciding frame in a narrow 8-7 victory over defending champions, France. The team went on to defeat Cyprus in the semi-final, and followed that up with a convincing victory against Morocco in the final winning 8 frames to 4.
This winning streak carried on into the weekend too! As part of the Lancashire County Pool Team, Ian scooped the English Pool Association’s Blue Riband event, the all England Inter County Championship on Sunday!
